The 19th-ranked SLU women's soccer team was just too much for SIUE on Sunday at CITYPARK, as SLU downed the Cougars 6-1 in the annual Bronze Boot contest between the two schools.
SLU's Emily Gaebe netted the first goal of the game, assisted by Izzy Luebbert in the 13th minute of action.
It was all SLU from there, as the Billikens dominated possession at SIUE's end of the field. SLU led 1-0 at halftime.
In the second half, the SLU offense exploded as Gaebe added her second goal in minute 57, assisted by Katie Houck and Hannah Larson. Gaebe assisted on the next goal by Julia Simon.
SIUE's lone goal came in minute 64, when MaryClaire Imig scored with an assist by Macie Begley.
A minute later, SLU responded with a goal by Larson, assisted by Rylee Howard. Three minutes after that, Emily Fox scored with an assist from Larson.
SLU improved to 3-1-3 on the season, while SIUE dropped to 1-2-2.
